                               Pamela Garcia, M.D.

Dr. Pamela Garcia has been practicing family medicine in Austin since 1989. She joined Jefferson Street Family Practice in 1994. Dr. Garcia is a native of Corpus Christi, TX. She is an alumnus of the University of Texas where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1981. Her medical degree is from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. She completed her internship and residency in Family Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.

Dr. Garcia is an avid golfer, and she enjoys traveling.  She is an animal lover, and she is especially fond of her long haired dachshund, Annika, and her Yorkshire terrier, Abby.

In 1989, Dr. Garcia served as medical director for the Seton Indigent Health Clinic.  More recently, she has worked at the Seton Volunteer Clinic.  She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Academy of Family Physicians, and Travis County Physicians.  She has been past president for the Austin Chapter of Executive Women’s Golf Association.


                                         Ajay Gupta, M.D.

Ajay Gupta, M.D. is a board certified Family Physician and a graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He did his postgraduate medical training at Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi. After completing his residency, Dr. Gupta moved to Austin and has been a partner with Jefferson Street Family Practice since 1997. He is also an associate professor of Family Medicine for both the University of Texas Medical School of San Antonio and UTMB in Galveston. Dr. Gupta is active in several professional organizations and has been chosen for various leadership positions within the Texas Academy of Family Physicians. He serves as a consultant for Texas Medical Liability Trust and the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. He is a contributing writer for Parent:Wise Austin (www.parentwiseaustin.com). Additionally, Dr. Gupta has been named Physician of the Day by the Texas State Capital in 2003 and 2005.

Dr. Gupta believes in a team approach to medicine and encourages his patients to take charge and be the manager of their health plan. He especially respects his patients' time and feels honored to serve as a physician to each of his patients. He is married to Nayana Shahane and they have three beautiful boys. He enjoys listening to good music, relaxing with his friends and family and is an avid fan of the local sports scene. He is proud to call Austin his home.



                                       Theresa Pugh, M.D.

Dr. Theresa Pugh joined Jefferson Street Family Practice in 2004. She received a B.S. in Biology at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia and an M.D. degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Pugh completed a residency in Family Medicine at Carilion Health Systems in Roanoke, VA and is board certified in Family Medicine. She served as a resident board member for the Virginia Academy of Family Practice.

After Dr. Pugh completed her residency, she and her husband relocated to Austin so he could pursue further studies at the University of Texas. In 2008, Dr. Pugh became an adjunct professor at the Academy of Oriental Medicine where she is an instructor in Microbiology and Pathophysiology. In her office practice, Dr. Pugh is interested in sports medicine and migraine management. An avid and lifelong horsewoman, she co-authored an article titled "Overuse Injuries in Equestrian Athletes" which appeared in Current Sports Medicine Reports in 2004. Outside the office, she still enjoys riding and competing hunter/jumper horses, watching sports, listening to local music and other outdoor activities. 


Eva Montes, P.A.

Eva is a certified Physician Assistant. She graduated in 2003 from The University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth with a Master’s in Physician Assistant studies. Eva received two degrees from Baylor University in Waco, Texas; a Master’s in Clinical Gerontology and a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Pre-Medicine. Before becoming a PA, Eva worked as a nursing home ombudsman as an advocate for the residents at the nursing homes in Dallas County and as a medical analyst for a law firm specializing in health law. As a PA, she has experience in family medicine and internal medicine with specialty training in Endocrinology. Eva is extensively involved with the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants to help shape favorable legislation for PAs and the Physician-PA team. Eva has a special interest in diabetes, osteoporosis and thyroid disorders. She enjoys being a mentor and partner with her patients in their quest for wellness. Her interests include running, cycling, star gazing and enjoying the local art scene.
