Theresa Pugh, MD

Dr. Theresa Pugh joined Jefferson Street Family Practice in 2004. She received a B.S. in Biology at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia and an M.D. degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Pugh completed a residency in Family Medicine at Carilion Health Systems in Roanoke, VA and is board certified in Family Medicine. She served as a resident board member for the Virginia Academy of Family Practice. After Dr. Pugh completed her residency, she and her husband relocated to Austin so that he could attend graduate school at the University of Texas. In 2008, Dr. Pugh became an adjunct professor at the Academy of Oriental Medicine where she is an instructor in Microbiology and Pathophysiology. In her office practice, Dr. Pugh is interested in sports medicine and migraine management. An avid and lifelong horsewoman, she co-authored an article titled "Overuse Injuries in Equestrian Athletes" which appeared in Current Sports Medicine Reports in 2004. Outside the office, she still enjoys riding and competing hunter/jumper horses, watching sports, listening to local music and other outdoor activities.
